Since 1990, the Georgia Careers Consortium has hosted one of the biggest career fairs at the Cobb Galleria in Atlanta. This event is open to students and alumni from member institutions only. Approximately 500 students seeking full-time jobs and internships attend this event each fall to network with over 70 employers. This annual event provides students and employers the opportunity to connect beyond the online application process.

Many of the students and alumni from our member institutions are pursuing careers in the non-profit industry. To increase the number of non-profit opportunities for our students, we offer a special discounted rate for 501(c)3 employers.

Non-Profit Employer Registration

$100 includes registration for 2 representatives.

$35 for each additional representatives.

Only employers who are categorized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 are eligible for this discount. The rate for for-profit and government organizations is $300.

The Career Opportunities Fair is for students and alumni from member institutions only. We will verify eligibility of all attendees during the event registration.

Find a Job through Social Networking

11:00 - 11:50 a.m.Register for the workshop at our career fair registration table at the Cobb Galleria.Ellen Sautter and Diane Crompton are the authors of two books on social networking and careers: Seven Days to Online Networking, published by JIST in May 2008, and Find A Job through Social Networking, published by JIST in November 2010. Diane and Ellen are Senior Career Consultants with Right Management. Right is a global management consulting firm providing human resources solutions to corporations, non-profits, and public entities. In addition, Diane has her own consulting business, helping individuals and companies effectively use social media strategies to build their brands. As Career Consultants, Ellen Sautter and Diane Crompton have followed hundreds of clients through their online networking journeys as well as experienced the process directly themselves. They have found online networking tools to be a great resource for internal and external staffing and recruiting professionals, a pertinent and important part of job search and ongoing career development and management activities, and a powerful tool for business development. Ellen and Diane are frequent speakers at conferences and association meetings and give interviews to the media on social networking and more general job search topics.

What to Expect

Arrival. When you arrive, park in the free parking available at the Cobb Galleria Centre. If parking is full, you can park at the Cumberland Mall and use the pedestrian walkway which connects to the Galleria. Once inside the Galleria, go to the second floor and follow the career fair signs.Registration. As you enter the career fair area, you'll see the registration area where you will sign-in and make a nametag. Be prepared to show your student ID and copy of your resume to verify that you are from one of the participating colleges.Professional Dress Code. All career fair attendees are required to dress professionally to be admitted to the event.Number of Participants. Since this career fair is only for participating member schools, you will not have to stand in long lines or get lost in the crowd. Approximately 500 students attend this event over a three hour period.

Career Fair Success Tips

What to ExpectWhen you arrive at the Cobb Galleria, you'll go to the second level and look for the signs pointing you toward the event. At our student and alumni registration table, youll sign-in and make a nametag. Be prepared to show your student ID and copy of your resume to verify that you are from one of the participating colleges.Getting ReadyPrepare a one-page resume. See your Career Services office for samples and a professional critique. Research. Use our website to get a list of participating employers. Learn what the company does and which positions they are currently hiring for so that you know which ones to target.Dress for success. Professional attire is required at the career fair. Click here for details.Know what you will say. Put together a 30 second introduction that tells the employer why you are interested in the company. Having a few open ended questions helps further develop conversation.What to BringAt least 20 copies of your resume on resume paperStudent IDPortfolio pad is great for taking notes or holding your resumes.Women may consider a professional bag rather than a purse.Directions to the Cobb Galleria!After the Career FairAt the fair, collect business cards so that you can follow up with the companies. A quick thank you email, letting them know of your interest and plans to apply online can make you stand out among other candidates. Many will tell you to apply online so make sure you do. The company is not giving you the brush off! In fact, many companies only accept resumes via their website. However, once you apply, you can email the recruiter you met so that someone in the company can look out for your resume.Once you apply and follow-up, then it's time to begin applying for additional opportunities. The best advice is to never harrass a company about your application and to continue your search.
